Οι περισσότερες των ειδήσεων δημοσιεύονται μέσα από καταλόγους παραληπτών αλληλογραφίας δελτίων τύπου στους οποίους μπορείτε να εγγραφείτε αν επιθυμείτε να λαμβάνετε στο μέλλον τα δελτία τύπου με μήνυμα ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου.

Οι ειδήσεις του FSFE είναι επίσης διαθέσιμες μέσα από RSS feed (ενημερωτικές περιλήψεις ιστοτόπων).

Η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή επέβαλε στην Microsoft πρόστιμο 899 εκατομμύρια Ευρώ για την εκτός πλαισίων του ανταγωνισμού συμπεριφορά της να περιορίσει την πρόσβαση σε πληροφορίες διαλειτουργικότητας. Η Ημέρα Ελευθερίας Εγγράφων (Document Freedom Day, DFD) είναι μια παγκόσμια ημέρα για την απελευθέρωση των εγγράφων με θεμελιώδεις ενέργειες για την προβολή των ελεύθερων τύπων αρχειοθέτησης εγγράφων και γενικά των Ανοικτών Προτύπων. (2008-01-18) Το NLnet συνεχίζει να υποστηρίζει την Ομάδα Εργασίας Ελευθερίας του FSFE
Η Ομάδα Εργασίας Ελευθερίας (FTF) του FSFE ξεκίνησε το Νοέμβριο του 2006 για να βοηθήσει στην υποστήριξη ατόμων, έργων και επιχειρήσεων με την αδειοδότηση του Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού. Η αρχική φάση της FTF ήταν εφικτή χάρη στην υποστήριξη του Ολλανδικού κοινωφελούς ιδρύματος NLnet.
